ENERGY STAR Program
Since 2002, NAILD has partnered with ENERGY STAR program. ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy. Partnership is voluntary and partners include manufacturers, distributors, lighting showrooms, and energy efficiency program implementers such as utilities, states, and other organizations.

NAILD distributor members can participate in the ENERGY STAR program under this partnership as retail partners. ENERGY STAR partners become key players in their community and to their customers by providing information on lighting trends and by stocking, promoting and selling ENERGY STAR certified products. ENERGY STAR partners are listed on the ENERGY STAR web site and on the resource page for builders, government, and utility partners. Specialized lighting distributors also serve as a valuable resource in providing ENERGY STAR certified products for new construction and building upgrades. ENERGY STAR partners are able to use the ENERGY STAR partner mark to promote their company and products, subject to the ENERGY STAR Identity Guidelines, which are available on the ENERGY STAR web site.

Illuminating Engineering Society (IES)
As The Lighting Authority®, the IES seeks to improve the lighted environment by bringing together those with lighting knowledge and by translating that knowledge into actions that benefit the public. NAILD partners with the IES in conveying this knowledge to distributor and vendors members as well as discussing these effects through podcasts and conventions.
